The Lira Ensemble is auditioning Altos for the 2008-2009 concert season. Auditions are being scheduled for Altos to appear as vocalists in "A Polish Christmas" concerts held on Saturday, November 29 and Sunday, November 30, 2008 in Cleveland, OH and Buffalo, NY. Additional concerts in the Chicago metro area to be announced. Singers will appear in the program as part of the Lira Singers female vocal ensemble of 8-9 voices, performing with a symphony orchestra and dancers. Transportation, meals and lodging will be provided for 11/29-11/30.
Singers are paid for all rehearsals and performances. Rehearsals are mainly on Wednesday evenings from 7:00-10:00pm at a north side location in Chicago. Singers should prepare two pieces such as an aria and an artsong or an aria and a show tune. One of the audition selections should be in a language other than English. The Lira Ensemble is Artist-in-Residence at Loyola University Chicago. To schedule an audition, please call the Lira office at 773-508-7040.
