The Lira Dancers

The Lira Ensemble is seeking male dancers for the Fall season. Auditions take place by appointment on Wednesday August 8 and Wednesday, August 13, 2007. See audition information below.

THE LIRA DANCERS are the nation's only professional dance company specializing in Polish folk and court dance. Created in 1994, the Dancers perform suites of dances from several regions of Poland in colorful, authentic costumes from these regions, as well as dances performed in the royal court and manor houses of Poland, presented in historically correct period costumes.

Iwona Puc is choreographer of the Lira Dancers. Born in Poland, Miss Puc received her certification as a Dance Instructor from the Provincial House of Culture, RzeszowSchool of Dance. She served as Choreographer and Dance Instructor at the Marie Curie-Sklodowska University in Rzeszow, Poland and since 1987 as a Choreographer for the “Rzeszowiacy” Song and Dance Ensemble in Chicago.

From 1994 through 2003, Anthony Dobrzanski, who was co-founder of the Lira Dancers served as choreographer and dance director.

ethnic arts companies in Chicago; is artist-in-residence at Loyola University Chicago; and concertizes widely in the Midwest and occasionally around the US and in Poland.
