The Lira Singers
THE LIRA SINGERS, the
female ensemble which is the core of the company, is made up of eight to
fourteen young women, and is one of the few professional, fine arts female
vocal groups in the
LUCYNA MIGALA is artistic director, general manager, and narrator
of the Lira Ensemble.
AUDITIONS are held several times a year by appointment. All
singers employed by Lira are classically trained; nearly all hold degrees,
often masters degrees, in music. Many are teachers of music and several are
highly respected in the field of traditional American music. Trained singers are
invited to audition, particularly those with ensemble experience. Some dance
experience is required. Those auditioning will be asked to perform simple dance
movements as well as perform an aria and an art song or show tune.
THE LIRA ENSEMBLE PERFORMS
MUSIC IN THE POLISH LANGUAGE. Prior
knowledge of Polish is preferred, but not required. Ensemble members receive
coaching in Polish pronunciation. (If you sing in French or German, you can
sing in Polish.) Auditions are open to singers of all races and ethnic groups.
The ensemble is truly an American company and is proud to be able to attract
highly talented Americans of diverse ethnic backgrounds, including African
Americans, Latinos, and Asian Americans.
Members of the Lira Ensemble are offered
many solo opportunities, recordings, radio and television appearances, and
press exposure. Singers are also offered occasional all-expense paid travel in
