The Lira Tour begins with a get-acquainted evening in Chicago on Wednesday, June 23rd
featuring a gourmet Polish dinner. (We promise not to keep you up late!)

Our tour flies non-stop to & from Warsaw on LOT Polish Airlines wide-body Boeing 767 jets.
We travel in Poland on an ultra-modern, air-conditioned motorcoach with an airplane-type bathroom on board.

Dear Friend of the Lira Ensemble:

In the name of the Board of Directors of the Lira Ensemble, it is my pleasure to invite you to join Lira's tour of Poland, this year once again to Southern Poland. We plan to offer a Northern Poland & Lithuania tour in 2011, then Southern tours in 2012 and 2013.

As you may know, the Lira Ensemble is a not-for-profit organization and is the only professional performing arts company in the US specializing in Polish music, song, and dance. We have been organizing tours of Poland since 1993. Both my parents were travel agents specializing in Poland. They trained me, so I am a second generation Poland tour director.

I have been told by former tour members that Lira runs the absolutely best tours of Poland. We stress personal service. The tours are like a group of friends visiting Poland, because our tour attracts interesting, like-minded people - whom I am certain you will enjoy. We spotlight the arts, folk and high culture, and history. We are experts on Poland, so we show you all the attractions, but also go to places and do things unavailable to most tourists.

My role is to explain why you should see what we are showing you. I lead discussions about Poland. We sing on the bus, we learn a bit of Polish, sample all kinds of delicious Polish cuisine, attend concerts and shows. And we have lots of fun.

This a first class tour, organized by the best tour company in Poland, with a state-of-the-art tour bus and the finest hotels. Our tour price includes everything except three lunches and two dinners, so you will have an opportunity to choose your menu, or have a chance to diet, because Poles usually give us lots to eat – too good to leave on the plate.

Each year, prices go up in Poland as the country raises it standard of living to the level of the rest of the European Union. So, the price of our tour is $190 more than last year. Please know that Poland probably will change completely to the euro in 2011. Because of the sad relationship of the US dollar to the euro, this will probably make the price go up even more next year – and anything you buy there will cost more. So, this is the year to go!

Our price is based on 21 people. If fewer register, we can still go, but the price will be $400 higher, but at least 16 people must register. The taxes are terribly high, but they pay for airport and in-air security, which are so important today.

At any price, the tour is a great value because we do not print fancy, full-color brochures and our advertising is mostly word-of-mouth from family and friends. We put all your money into showing you a great time. Whatever is left, we use for our mission of bringing the best of Polish culture into American life. Since we are a charity, any excess income to us is considered a donation by you. After the tour, when all bills are paid, you will receive a tax receipt showing what amount you can deduct, which is usually about 8% of the tour price.
